Question: Should you use a particular language when requesting assistance animal accommodation?

Answer: If you are to let a landlord, property manager, or hotel operator know that you would like to request that your Assistance Animal live with you as a reasonable accommodation for your disability, there is no specific way that the written request has to be made; the law does not require that it be in writing or that you use particular language.

The Service Animal Registry of California invites you to have your assistance animal registered in order to designate its status. We also encourage you to take our online classes so you can be fully aware of your rights and gain more knowledge about your support animal.
