A fire in Columbia Borough last January killed a mother and her daughter then devastated an entire community. Susquehanna Valley Operations Manager Adam Marden said the incident deeply affected his colleagues. “To have any people die in front of you, it’s very stressful. You’re thinking of your own family at that time. And it wears on the first responders physically and mentally.”

But after everything ends, who is there to help them when they need it the most? Kylie and Daisy – therapy dogs with non-profit KPets. For every first responder coming back to the station after a rough shift, seeing the dogs smiling and wagging their tails is stress relieving and joy bringing.
