The Kids and Canines offers an opportunity for disadvantaged kids and rescued dogs to change their lives. Usually, kids that join the program are those that had to leave their schools for disruptive behavior. Through Kids and Canine, they get to train rescued dogs to become service dogs.
Two students who help one another are Nick, a senior at Dorothy Thomas School with behavioral issues, and Patriot, a Golden Retriever. Nick loves what he does for the dogs at Kids and Canine. Though he wants to enter the culinary industry after graduation, he still wants to continue his volunteer work at Kids and Canine.
