The Marion County Sheriff’s Office adopted a rescue dog in May 2017 and the police canine is on a mission to rescue others ever since.

Standing out from the K-9 working dogs in the MCSO is Lily, the only therapy dog in the sheriff’s office.

Elizabeth Long, her primary handler for over 2 years explains the profound impact Lily has at MCSO. The therapy dog comforts children during interrogation and women who are victims of domestic violence.

Lily trained for 8 weeks at the Paws & Stripes College in Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and later graduated with a Law Enforcement Investigative Therapy Dog Course.
