Bringing your pets with you overseas is already a costly effort to some people. For soldiers, It’s even harder to afford due to several factors and the pandemic going on. Fortunately for our troops, they have Army Emergency Relief (AER).

This nonprofit isn’t just closely related to the Army but also offers interest-free loans or grants up to $5,500 so that servicemen can keep their pets with them during overseas assignments. For the Navy and other maritime military branches, they have the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.

Glen Wellman III, a senior emergency assistance administrator, said, “The intent of the $5,500 is that we found that that’s what it will cost to ship two pets overseas.”
