Seeing-eye dogs enable people who are blind or visually-impaired to regain their independence. These dogs help you move around obstacles, and are in fact more clever than you think. Here are interesting things about seeing-eye dogs:
- Seeing-eye dogs can sense when walking can put their owners in danger, even if their owners give the instruction. So, a seeing-eye dog will disobey the instruction on purpose.
- Dogs with mild temperaments are used as seeing-eye dogs. Great examples are Golden Retrievers and Labradors. Labradoodles and German Shepherds are also good options.
- When a seeing-eye dog is wearing its harness, it knows that it is supposed to work. It can behave differently without its harness. The dog will want to play and relax just like regular house pets.
