Q&A: Can you bring your emotional support animal on flights?

flying with animal

The short answer is yes, your emotional support animal can fly with you on planes.

However, you also need to know that many domestic airlines have stricter rules in place because too many passengers are taking advantage of laws regarding the transport of these animals. Be responsible for checking each airline’s requirements and notify them earlier about your plan to travel with an emotional support animal.

The basic requirement would be an emotional support animal (ESA) travel letter provided to you by a licensed medical professional which states your need for the animal.

Do you own an assistance animal? Register your pet.

The Service Animal Registry of California invites you to have your assistance animal registered in order to designate its status. We also encourage you to take our online classes so you can be fully aware of your rights and gain more knowledge about your support animal.

Finally, we present to you our book entitled, “ASSISTANCE ANIMAL LAWS: LEARN YOUR RIGHTS REGARDING SERVICE ANIMALS, EMOTIONAL SUPPORT ANIMALS, THERAPY PETS, AND OTHER DOGS, CATS, AND ASSISTANCE ANIMALS” to provide you with a complete education on assistance animals.
