Polley Survived a Crash and Found Help from a Furry Friend

Iris Polley suffered a car crash in 2007 and since then, she got paralyzed from the waist down. She drove over the posted speed limit. She remembers being angry about something and throwing her phone into the passenger seat. It fell off and when she attempted to grab it, taking her eyes off the road, that’s when the tragedy happened.

Because of the crash, Polley says, “After that, I was a mess for years.” Much of her life involved a lot of physical activity and so the accident left her feeling like her identity was no longer there.

While looking for some companionship after she and her partner separated, she met Denis Hopper, a Netherland dwarf bunny. She says that Denis has a positive effect on those around him. His presence calms those who hold him.

Polley wants Denis to be a certified therapy bunny. As of today, she is in the process of meeting the requirements for Denis’ certification.
