Pet Partners Offers Training Camp for Handlers and Potential Therapy Pets

If you’re a pet handler and would like to get training for it to become a therapy animal, Pet Partners of Kansas City is offering everyone the opportunity. They need more therapy pets and handlers to visit hospitals, cancer centers, and schools.

During training, you will be working with a stuffed animal. Julie Goodman of Pet Partners says that they use stuffed animals so that the focus is on handlers, not the pets. Some of the challenges that pet handlers should go through include meeting loud strangers and passing by squeaky toys.

Take note that this training is not limited to dogs. Cats, hamsters, and rats can go through the training.
