There’s a new pilot program started in Marrington Elementary School, and it helps students see that everyone’s uniqueness is to be celebrated. The program is called CARD (Celebrate And Respect Diversity).

Here’s what’s awesome about the program: It uses therapy dogs! Jane Hirsch, a school volunteer and the person who runs the program, says that dogs are a calming presence to children and they can brighten a student’s day. Most of all, they offer non-judgmental love. A dog’s unconditional love can help those who feel that they aren’t good enough.

Students who experienced the program were also given dog trading cards to help them remember the lesson they learned!
