A new director was hired for Santa Barbara County’s Animal Shelter Assistance Program (ASAP). Angela Walters Yates was previously the leader of the ASAP. She managed 250 volunteers plus eight personnel in taking care of 1,000 cats for a total of nine years.

The nine years of Yate’s experience in the animal welfare industry is a huge help for improving humane practices for helping the local animals. The new director said in an interview, “I’m honored and excited to join Santa Barbara County Animal Services, especially during a time of such innovation and change in animal welfare, not only in California, but across the nation.”
