Elma Ling Hoffman is in her senior year as an art history and religious studies major. She met Pascal after a friend took her to the Center for Animal Rehabilitation and Education (CARE) in Waukesha, Wisconsin to get a dove for her birthday.
She got the idea of adopting a dove after seeing the four parakeets in the home of the kids where she tutors violin and foreign languages. Elma said, “When we play together, the parakeets sing along. So I was like, I’m a musician, I need a bird to accompany me.”
Not everyone prefers to have dogs or cats as household pets. Some prefer to be in the company of birds. If you’re one of these people and want to adopt one, you can visit the CARE website to see which birds are available for adoption.
