Iowa Nonprofit Aims to Build Care Farm For Households With Special Needs

Brad and Gina Perkins have one goal; Raise more than $35,000 to build an inclusive care farm that teaches life and job skills to individuals with special needs in Ames and the entire state of Iowa. The idea came when their 5-year-old daughter, Kaitlyn, was diagnosed with Autism back in August 2018.

“We want the kids to learn the life lessons our kids learned growing up by taking care of animals — the basic skills of working hard, doing a task, and then when done with that task, coming back for another one,” said Brad.
