Cooper first met the Purdue University Veterinary Hospital’s medical team in May of 2017 after suffering from an instability on his right shoulder. The surgery for the 11-year-old Labrador was a success. However, some treatments were not.
He came back in April 2018 for another spine surgery due to trouble walking and some back pain. It was found later on that Cooper had disk disease. Up to this day, he has undergone 30 appointments – a combination of surgeries and treatments.
The Hansens, Cooper’s family, were told that he would be lucky to live a year or two during the back surgery. But the good boy now is even the one who takes his owners out on walks. As Rick Hansen said, “The Purdue veterinary medical team is willing and able to do anything, and are great at keeping our regular veterinarians up-to-date with any necessary reports and information.”
