Sydney Schapel is a student at Elon University, and she shares her thoughts about pets being on campus. According to her, many students at Elon happen to be animal lovers. She also wonders whether the university will be allowing emotional support animals.
While some dorms at Elon University aren’t animal-friendly (because of students who are allergic), Sydney mentions the benefits of bringing an animal to campus:
- Animals help students have an easier transition to college.
- Animals make students more responsible since they will have to care for them while their parents are not around.
- People are drawn to animals and with that, animals can help students form new friendships.
- Animals bring the best in everyone.
- Petting an animal has been shown to reduce anxiety.
Sydney says that she hopes that Elon University won’t find it hard to allow animals on campus. When she was choosing between Elon and Stetson, she chose Elon despite the fact that Stetson was animal-friendly.
