Even if assistance animal registration is not required under the law, why is it helpful?

service animal registration importance

Question: Even if assistance animal registration is not required under the law, why is it helpful?

Answer: Registration with a registry such as SARC is purely voluntary and many owners find it helps them explain their animal’s status to landlords, airline ticket counter agents, employers, retail store staff, restaurant staff, and others. Showing your registration certificate is an easy way to assert your rights and is often easier than trying to educate the person about the law.

Do you own an assistance animal? Register your pet.

The Service Animal Registry of California invites you to have your assistance animal registered in order to designate its status. We also encourage you to take our online classes so you can be fully aware of your rights and gain more knowledge about your support animal.

Finally, we present to you our book entitled, “ASSISTANCE ANIMAL LAWS: LEARN YOUR RIGHTS REGARDING SERVICE ANIMALS, EMOTIONAL SUPPORT ANIMALS, THERAPY PETS, AND OTHER DOGS, CATS, AND ASSISTANCE ANIMALS” to provide you with a complete education on assistance animals.

  1. Thank you all so much for ur support and guidance concerning Gunner and I. From the beginning i was forced to raise Gunn from a puppy while living on the streets- completely homeless. Gunner had been medically prescribed as a service dog and trained specifically to intervene in my episodes of self depreciating self loathing verbal outbursts that induced panic attacks with associated destructive behavioes. All steming from PTSD following the 1984 mexico city earthquake in which i was a rescue paramedic from Fresno California. All of Gunners training was complered while we lived out of a shopping card on the streets of Fresno.
Gunn was trained to stop my verbal outbursts by jumping up putting his front paws on my forearm. And gently pushing pulling and barking until he was able to sit ontop of me or my behavior ceased!
Glad to say we are off the streets after nearly 4 years of an awful existance. ‘.having registered Gunn as a seevice animal saved both our lives many times! God bless you all!
Sincerely, Dan Smith and Gunner too!
