The federal government has noted that more complaints are being made regarding animals that lack adequate training. A lot of pet owners bring their emotional support animals with them while traveling – and these include untrained dogs, cats, and even exotic companions like iguanas and snakes.

The U.S. Department of Transportation proposes that only service animals will be allowed on flights. Service animals refer to dogs that have been specially trained to perform tasks for people with disabilities.

Military vet and CEO of Leashes of Valor Jason Haag says, “If it makes you happy and you like petting it, you can have an emotional support iguana. But does that mean it needs to be out in public? In my opinion as someone who has been in this industry, absolutely not.”
