Holding a dog can offer relief to people affected by tragedies. Not every victim or survivor will open up to other humans, but only to dogs.
One day, while a woman who was watching on television the Waldo Canyon forest fire, she recalls her late son. It was as if her late son in heaven was telling her to take her therapy dogs Tabor and Snickers to the evacuation area. She went and one firefighter asked if he could borrow Tabor since he was used to sleeping with his dog. He asked the woman what team she was with and since she just went alone with the dogs, she responded, “The GO team.”
That was the starting point of the journey of The GO TEAM Dogs. Today, the GO TEAM has grown to be a non-profit organization that places well-trained, certified therapy dog teams in programs. Volunteers would assist in providing help where therapy dogs are needed. Learn more about the GO TEAM.
