Question: In what ways do certifications help owners of service dogs, emotional support dogs, and therapy dogs?

Answer: Many owners benefit from certifying their assistance animal in that they get to avoid uncomfortable conversations with strangers and disclose their disability. While not mandated by federal law, certifications help disabled owners feel more confident. (Please remember that certification doesn’t give your animal its status.)

Do you own an assistance animal? Register your pet. 

The Service Animal Registry of California invites you to have your assistance animal registered in order to designate its status. We also encourage you to take our online classes so you can be fully aware of your rights and gain more knowledge about your support animal.
