Cows: A New Kind Of Animal-Assisted Therapy

cow

Ever heard of Mountain Horse Farm? It’s a 33-acre break and breakfast retreat center situated in the Finger Lakes region of New York. You’ll find Bella and Bonnie there – two pet highland cows who would love to cuddle with you.

Providing animal-based therapy, Bella and Bonnie were purchased by Mr. and Ms. Vullers – the co-owners of Mountain Horse Farm who traded their corporate lives to set up their farm. While neither of them has a psychology degree, they can read the cows’ moods to make sure that people can interact with them safely. Their number one advice to everyone is to stay calm when around the cows since they can sense emotions.

Each 60-minute session for two persons costs $75. To learn more about Mountain Horse Farm and their founders, visit their website.
