The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports, “[a]t this time, there is no evidence that companion animals including pets can be infected with or spread COVID-19.”

But despite the CDC’s confident report, Universities and Colleges are still planning ways to provide health and well-being to their students, faculty, and staff. It should be included in their plans to address the issues related to using animal models in ongoing research and issues on service animals and emotional support animals.

Ever since a dog tested positive of a COVID-19 infection despite its validity, it does not alter potential concerns and liabilities tertiary institutions will face in case an infection breaks out.
