Are you planning to travel with your service dog internationally? If so, here’s what you need to remember:
1. If your service dog has certain allergies to food, medication, and other products, be sure to bring your own supply.
2. Order food and medication for your pet online and have them shipped to your travel destination. Also, check whether your destination has local pet stores.
3. When traveling to warmer climates, add Pedialyte® to your dog’s water bowl to prevent dehydration. Place freezer packs in the pockets of your dog’s vests to cool its body.
4. When traveling to cooler climates, get a vest or coat with insulation. Brush your dog’s coat frequently.
5. Carry a head halter or muzzle with you because some public places may require them.
6. Take good care of yourself so that you can also care for your service dog!
Do you own an assistance animal? Register your pet.
The Service Animal Registry of California invites you to have your assistance animal registered in order to designate its status. We also encourage you to take our online classes so you can be fully aware of your rights and gain more knowledge about your support animal.
Finally, we present to you our book entitled, “ASSISTANCE ANIMAL LAWS: LEARN YOUR RIGHTS REGARDING SERVICE ANIMALS, EMOTIONAL SUPPORT ANIMALS, THERAPY PETS, AND OTHER DOGS, CATS, AND ASSISTANCE ANIMALS” to provide you with a complete education on assistance animals.
