Olive was picked up by animal control infested with fleas, ticks while being hungry and dirty. Brandon McMillan however, took her out of the shelter’s cage as he saw something. He trained Olive to be a unique therapy dog for the Therapy Dog category of the Hero Dog Award by the American Humane Association.
Olive provides comfort to testifying children in court that are frightened and traumatized by abuse. As part of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), she has comforted more than three hundred abused and neglected children. With the children’s anxiety eased up and their nerves calmed in court, this dog has become a hero and changed these kids’ lives. Each contestant of the Hero Dog Award has its sponsor. Olive’s sponsor is the World Pet Association.
