Assistance Animal Training In Michigan Resumes as Organizations Join Together

animal training resumes

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s stay-at-home order has halted PAWS’ training of assistance dogs in public areas. But with West Central Michigan YWCA and Community Food Club’s help, training resumes. The YWCA has offered to share space in its Sheldon Building at 25 Sheldon Blvd. SE, as training grounds of practical skills for the assistance dogs.

“We are pleased to partner with Paws With A Cause, who shares our commitment to accessibility for all,” YWCA CEO Charisse Mitchell said. Another nonprofit member-based grocery store, Community Food Club offered some of their facility areas. Since then, these areas which aren’t open to the public, have served as training grounds for grocery shopping skills of the assistance dogs.
