Animal Welfare Provides Free Vaccination Services at Community Wellness Event

The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA) held its first Pets & People Community Wellness Event last May 15 at the Ruby Tucker Family Center. Almost 90 vaccinations were given to pets to fight distemper, rabies, and parvovirus – illnesses that could cause discomfort to death in household animals.

Aside from animal vaccinations, pets received grooming and nail trimming from Pawsh Dog Wash – a local business. Pet owners also received goods and services such as grocery bags and pantry items that are shelf-stable. For those that weren’t able to receive assistance, the AWLA plans to hold another event this year at the Chirilagua area of Alexandria.
