Joey’s P.A.W. which stands for Prosthetics and Wheels was founded by the couples Tanya and Charlie Diable on August 2017. Their cause was to save dogs that have been victims of animal cruelty as well as providing money for canines that need custom prosthetics and wheelchairs. Tanya said, “Charlie and I have a heart for dogs that have been literally starved, abused, beaten, thrown away and for breeders wanting to kill them because they are unable to make a profit from them.”
They have adopted six dogs (Joey, Zoey, Temperance, Kingston, Harper, and Boone) with Joey as one of the inspirations in creating the organization. Joey had both rear legs intentionally severed at six weeks of age and received a donation of life-saving medical care plus prosthetics by Merrick Pet Care. The generous act prompted them to help other dogs in need.
“We rely on donations through fundraisers, and last year we raised more than $18,000,” she said. “People can donate online, and we cannot help those dogs in need without donations.” With more than 79 dogs plus a goat helped across the globe, the organization celebrates their first year of being in service.
