Little is written about how the streams in Anchorage are having high levels of fecal coliform bacteria. The public trails are also said to be littered with dog poop and the diamonds in baseball parks have to be checked for fecal matter before children can play.

In addition to the poop issue, 4.5 million people are bitten by dogs each year in the US according to a World Health Organization (WHO) statistic. This prompted the Municipality of Anchorage to consider proposing amendments to Title 17, sections 17.05.010 and 17.10.010 of the municipal code.

If you live in Anchorage, it’s best to support the proposal. It will make the city a safer place to live in for humans and animals alike.
